Phase Two of Western Meter Deployment Launches Early
Utility Partners of America (UPA) announces the successful completion of Phase 1 of a large-scale smart meter deployment in the Western U.S. More than 130,000 residential and commercial electric meters were installed in Colorado, South Dakota and Wyoming for customers of Black Hills Energy, Black Hills Power and Cheyenne Light Fuel and Power.
Anchored by UPA’s proven deployment methodology, the first phase was completed ahead of schedule, allowing the Phase 2 timeline to be accelerated. Originally not scheduled until 2011, UPA will launch efforts in December to install an additional 30,000 electric smart meters in Rapid City, South Dakota.
